Work starts on DPD Carlisle depot

Construction has started on DPD’s latest parcel distribution centre in the UK.

The 62,500ft² facility is being built at Kingmoor Park industrial estate in Carlisle. Practical completion is due in August  .

Outline plans were lodged to extend Kingmoor Park by a further 1.1 million ft² in July last year with owner Kingmoor Park Properties noting that ‘Carlisle is an important location both within Cumbria and within the England/Scotland and north-west/north-east corridors.  The city continues to grow its economy with one of the key features being its strong logistics and manufacturing sectors’.

‘This area of Kingmoor Park has been identified as a key growth hub and driver for employment development and as such the proposals will bring job growth to the local economy.’

The 82.7-acre greenfield site, to be known as Kingmoor Park West, is located between Kingmoor Park’s northern and central areas close to Junction 44 of the M6 motorway.
